Seven weeks to go in Cairo. About 104 fewer than anticipated. Thus, we rush to catch all the sites we thought we'd have plenty of time to see. Today's trek was to Sakara and Dashur pyramids, which were cooler than the Giza pyramids despite lesser reputations.

The Great Pyramids of Giza are iconic, but I enjoyed the quiet and seclusion afforded by driving 30 minutes to the south. Of course, we got to them after closing and "paid" someone to show us the alternate route, which runs through a village, a cemetery, and requires some desert-sand driving skills.
